The CHS cheerleading team’s season continues its performances at girls’ and boys’ home basketball games during the winter season. As of now, the team is perfecting their stunts and chants from the fall season and learning new winter ones. Trust has become a large factor in making that possible.

This trust in one another is important in making sure stunts are as successful as possible while preventing potential injuries. As a two-year member of the squad, sophomore Eliza Jeffries shared how close the girls are with one another.

“My favorite part is really the people,” Jeffries said. “Like the experience is really good […] everyone on the team is really close. We’re very open.”

The team’s head coach Ms. Kimberly Kramer said she believes that the team’s commitment and determination help them succeed in stunts and other aspects of cheerleading as well.

“They are committed, they put their mind to something and really work hard to achieve it,” Kramer said. “They also are really close-knit.”

With the addition of a junior varsity squad during the football season this year, the team is now able to cheer separately for the varsity and JV basketball games. However, they practice together and continue to build teamwork and friendships.

Senior captain Erin Clark, who has been part of the team since her freshman year, has participated in all eight seasons, fall and winter. She said she thinks adding a JV team is beneficial to all the girls.

“It was cool to see everyone really gain different skills and working with like different groups of people in that sense but still everyone be together for the same goal of cheerleading,” Clark said.

While the regular season for both teams will end in mid-February, the boys and girls’ basketball teams will look to advance to post-season where the cheerleading squad will continue to support the teams.
