Thursday, February 5, continued the hilarious tradition of Mr. Cinnaminson.

Seven male CHS students, after being nominated, decided to participate in this annual Cinnaminson High School show.

The seven contestants consisted of freshman Matt O’Brien, juniors Tim Meissgeier and Mike Zelinka, and seniors Zach Sireci, Dominic Gigliotti, Nick Patel and Brandon Jones.

Skits varied from Indian Style dancing to hilarious acts like “How to be a Man” and Mike Zelinka’s skit of randomness.

Mr. Cinnaminson is broken down into three parts: a casual walk, a skit and a formal walk.

The night began with senior hosts Adam Berenato and David Gall, wearing sponsored suits from Formal Expressions. As in the past, the hosts teased the audience by making jokes about classmates, judges and teachers within the school. Judges consisted of Mrs. Alvarado, Mr. Angelini, Mrs. Quinn, and guest judge Mr. Mike Perekupka. Music was provided by Ryan Rickus and Laura Curran who controlled every aspect of the music for each contestant’s performance.

The seven contestants opened their acts with a choreographed dance to the song “Wannabe” by the Spice Girls. Within the dance, the contestants high-fived each other and did the wave while holding each others hands; all did this while bringing their own styles of funky dance moves.

Following the opening act, each contestant had a chance to showcase their casual walk to the song and outfit of their choice. Some acts that stood out were Zach Sireci who was escorted by Nick Thevanayagam and Chris Stewart who both sported wrestling singlets. Dominic Gigliotti made a surprising entrance when his escort Jennifer Weiler wore a suit and Dominic took a dress for a spin. Brandon Jones had a hilarious entrance with Alex Keck, Nichole McAneney, Charlie the dog and the famous Mrs. Loza. Charlie the dog had the privilege of riding as the passenger with Brandon in his mini police car.

Next came the talent portion, where each contestant had the opportunity to display a skit. Matt O’Brien, showed his specific talent by playing the guitar and singing a medley of songs.

For Dominic Gigliotti’s skit, he wore an outfit made of glow sticks and danced to a plethora of songs that included oldies music and modern break-dancing. Accompanying him were sophomores Casey Fedorko, Prisca Blamon and senior Brandon Jones.

Zach Sireci’s skit was a mix of ballet by Mr. Hart, Nick Thevanayagam and Chris Stewart; eating cereal by Andrew Weist; and cello playing by Zach. Afterwards, the boys, excluding Mr. Hart, ate cereal while doing impersonations of Mr. Patrizi and Mr. Angelini.

Tim Meissgier acted as Ellen Degeneres who interviewed ‘Daniel J. Swagger’ acted by Daniel Bresnahan from BCIT and ‘Biff Tannister’ acted by Mike Zelinka. The skit consisted mostly of Biff Tannister’s version of the well-known dance move, twerking.

Mike Zelinka’s talent was breathing and he demonstrated this by helping fellow junior Charlotte Day-Smith overcome her stage fright to start breathing again. Mike and Charlotte continued by moving to the piano where they performed a song about CHS. Charlotte fled the stage while cheerleaders started to appear and chant the Pirate Rumble. Kevin McGill made a guest appearance with the cheerleaders as they closed out Mike Zelinka’s comedic act.

Another comedic act was performed by Brandon Jones as he attempted to find the manliest man in the audience. Seniors Ryan Addlesberger and Pat Morton joined the stage with protein powder and what seemed to be manly outfits. Kevin McGill was the last to join the stage with an outfit completely opposite from Ryan’s and Pat’s, wearing glasses and overalls. Kevin McGill was crowned the manliest man because, in the end, he was the only one to step on a lego and not completely break down.

Taking a step away from the more humorous acts, Nick Patel showed his talent with his brother, freshman Milan Patel, where they danced to classic Indian style music which transformed into modern music like Bruno Mars. When asked about his performance, Nick says “my brother and I practiced for a month”, which was clearly seen as the audience roared during his performance.

The Formal portion of the contest followed the skits where the hosts gave a brief summary about each contestant while the contestant modeled off their sponsored suits and ties from Formal Expressions.

After the judges tallied up their scores, it was announced that Zach Sireci, Nick Patel, Mike Zelinka, and Brandon Jones had advanced to the final round.

The final round consisted of one question for each contestant. After the final round it was announced that Brandon Jones was crowded by last year’s winner, Harry Ball, as Mr. Cinnaminson. Mike Zelinka, Nick Patel, and Zach Sireci placed second, third and fourth, respectively.

Mr. Cinnaminson is DECA’s biggest fundraiser for their trip to Orlando where the proceeds will help reduce the cost of the trip to nationals for all of their students who attend. Although the exact amount is not available, the cost of the Orlando trip was deferred for DECA members by the proceeds of the night.
