The most exciting week of the 2017-2018 school year for Cinnaminson High School has arrived for students – it is CHS Spirit Week.

There are a lot of various goals that people have for the entirity of Spirit Week.  For example, Senior Class Advisor Mr. Meile hopes that CHS helps make donations to hurricane relief through the monies raised.

“I really hope this year we focus on charity, with the canned food drive and the money raised, I believe we are doing this for hurricane relief. That is something this year’s class really wanted to put an emphasis on this year,” Mr. Meile said.

Mr. Meile also believes that the “Toy Story” is a theme that has a lot of different options for dressing up for the CHS Senior Class’s theme day.

“(The Toy Story theme) has the most flexibility especially when you dress up you know you can dress up as a toy soldier, you can dress up as a cowboy, you can dress up as a space man all these things would count as credit towards the class,” Mr. Meile finished.

Sophomore class officer Eric Gallagher seems to have some high expectations about this week.

“I expect to do better than last year and at least make a contested run,” Eric said.

Eric also does not have any different thoughts on approaching Spirit Week this year compared to
when he was a freshmen one year ago.

“My thoughts haven’t really changed I’ve always thought of (spirit week) as a fun and great time,” Eric finished.

Student Class Advisor Ms. Michele Iaconelli gave some insight on what to expect for the events for the pep rally.

“I have new games that I can’t reveal yet since they go to your advisors first, but these new events
require a lot more teamwork,” she said.

Ms. Iaconelli also enjoys the enthusiasm the students have during this intense week.

“I like how excited the students get, I enjoy the competition as long as it stays in good spirit and that people don’t get upset,” Ms. Iaconelli said.

Ms. Iaconelli is also is very thankful for all the hard work the student council puts in during this week.

“I have really good officers who are working hard, not just to get the job done, but to be sure everyone has a great time,” Ms. Iaconelli finished.

Later today, the revelations will come with what grade won the hall decorations and the dress-up theme for the day.  And the collection of points will begin with those revelations.

For the rest of the week, the themes will be as follows – tomorrow will be Superhero vs. Villain Day; Wednesday will be “Out of the World Wednesday” where kids will dress as an alien or spaceperson (Star Wars, ET, Star Trek, Alien, etc); Thursday will be Throwback Thursday Themes where kids will dress in your class’s theme; Friday will be Class Color Day.

The high point of the week will be the incredibly loud 2017 Homecoming Pep Rally in the new gymnasium that will begin at 12:40.  On Friday night the Homecoming football game versus West Deptford will begin at 7 p.m. where Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime, and the King and Queen will be crowned.

On Saturday night from 7-10 p.m. will be the Homecoming Dance in the cafeteria where the winner of the coveted Spirit Stick will be announced.
