On February 9th, 2025 the Philadelphia Eagles were able to capture their second Super Bowl victory at Super Bowl LIX (59) against the Kansas City Chiefs in an absolute blowout, with the Eagles leading the Chiefs by nearly 35 at one point in the game. Luckily for CHS, one of our own was able to attend the big game. Freshman Haylee McGinnis went to New Orleans to see one of the biggest sporting events of the year. She spoke on how she was able to retrieve the coveted tickets, when the average price for a ticket to this year’s Super Bowl was just over $8,000.
“My grandpa is a coach on the Chiefs and he used to work for the Eagles too. So he just got us all tickets,” McGinnis said. “I went with my grandma, my two aunts, my two uncles, my dad, and my stepmom… We sat up on the last section of the whole stadium. So we sat like really up top.”

With two of the most passionate NFL fanbases in attendance, McGinnis outlined what the experience was like for her. Notoriously, Philadelphia fan bases are some of the most infamous in sports, and they did not disappoint.
“It was really rowdy and there was just crazy people, but it was fun to experience it,” she said. “Yeah, I got sprayed with beer. By this old man. Yeah and I almost got into a fight with this one kid. He was like 16, kept yelling at me.”
McGinnis added how she also attended Super Bowl LVII (57), which was on February 12, 2023. In this game, the Eagles suffered a close three-point loss to the Chiefs in their first Super Bowl matchup in history. She was able to walk onto the field right after that game and collected the red and yellow confetti from the ground to keep as a souvenir.
At this year’s Super Bowl, before the game, McGinnis was able to attend a pregame party where she met Clark Hunt, the chairman and CEO of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I met the owners. I got a picture with them but not really at the game, before the game and at the hotel,” McGinnis said. “There was a pregame party and that’s where I met the owners and then they had like a bunch of food and everybody was there before the game started.”
McGinnis said that the most unforgettable part of attending the game was not even a part of the game itself.
“The halftime show was unforgettable because I saw SZA and I literally started bawling my eyes out,” she said.
After the game had ended, McGinnis and her family went back to her hotel, which also happened to be the hotel that the players were staying at. For McGinnis, the Super Bowl was no doubt an unforgettable experience. The halftime show may have been one of her favorite parts of the entire experience, but the outcome of the game itself was a shock.
“Yes, at the outcome, I thought the Chiefs were going to win but I’m still happy that Eagles won cause I’m still like an Eagles fan, but I thought the Chiefs were gonna win, but they did terrible,” McGinnis said.
