March 1 will be a day when dedicated CHS students will barely leave the gymnasium. The girl’s basketball team is the number one seed this year giving them the home court advantage and will host Buena tonight.

With the fans facing a double header both the girls’ and the boys’ basketball teams have a home playoff game after school. The boys however will host Cedar Creek in the later game.

Coach Jenkins and Coach Fries came up with the idea last year, that if this ever occurred they should hand out t-shirts to the first 110 students to show up for the game to promote attendance.

“The girls game is at 5 o’clock, and the boys game is at 7 o’clock… our goal is that everyone shows up for the girls game at 5 and stays for the boys game as well,” Jenkins explained.  With everybody wearing the same shirts, there would be a sense of unity and support among the students and for the players.

Senior Lexi Colella expresses her excitement for the game and the hope that many people will attend, “We need all the support we can get and it’d be great if both teams could win at home to move on to the next round!”

The hope is that this free t-shirt giveaway helps to gain attendance for the girl’s game.

Junior Shannon Merget is planning on attending both games, “hopefully the crowd will be hyped, the t-shirts will probably bring in a lot of people because everyone likes free t-shirts.”

It is recommended to arrive at the game earlier than the start for those who really want the free shirts, either way two great games will be played this afternoon and evening.
